Infidelity Surveillance

When a commitment is broken or relationship put at risk through infidelity, our lives are suddenly shattered and our emotions paralyzed. Whether disloyalty occurs in a marriage or an exclusive relationship, the effects are equally devastating. This type of unfaithfulness is an unfortunate reality that can be seen at every level in society and places each of us in a vulnerable position, both emotionally and financially. This is the reason our firm handles domestic cases with a serious approach.

Domestic cases require a special kind of handling and consideration, and there is usually only one opportunity to document sensitive evidence of this type. This makes selecting a professional surveillance service a crucial decision. Our dedication to providing expert surveillance drives field agents to secure results for our clients. We have excellent reputation with many family law attorneys and have been referred to as “The Attorney-Preferred private Investigator’s” in the Virginia legal Directory. A large percentage of our assignments actually start as direct attorney referrals. This level of trust can only develop from many years of successful cases. Attorneys are confident recommending our firm knowing that their clients will receive professional and honest investigative services from an agency dedicated to thorough and fast results. We have become known among Bar members s the “attorney-preferred” investigative agency in Virginia.

Getting Started Is Easy

We begin each assignment with a good telephone conversation about your situation. If a decision is made to hire our firm, the case information is taken in using a Request Form (button located at the bottom on this page). A case file is opened and there are follow-up planning conversations with the client and lead investigator. After a mutual understanding on objectives and strategy, the surveillance team, specialized equipment, and surveillance vehicles are assigned accordingly based on the unique circumstances of each case. An initial surveillance strategy is developed with the client’s participation; providing knowledge of past patterns, work schedules, suspicions and gut instinct. The intent is to set a game plan for developing the evidence or information needed in the most efficient manner possible. Being productive on each surveillance conducted is the goal. After a period of surveillance is performed, we reassess with the client and decide on the next logical move and adjust the strategy as necessary.

Assessment

Once the evidence or information has been documented, the investigation is placed on hold. At this point, the field agent(s) will consult with the client’s attorney (if one) or the client about the findings. INTERPROBE agents are not attorneys and will not provide legal advice. However, INTERPROBE agents have spent thousands of hours testifying and consulting with attorneys on domestic cases and can offer valuable personal opinions.

Surveillance Report Package

Once the investigation has been concluded, a report package can be requested which includes a formal, court-ready written report that details relevant observations and information developed. Also included are any associated research or background checks and a final surveillance video that contains all clips from agents’ standard 1080p HD cameras, night vision cameras, covert cameras, and unmanned cameras.

Testimony

Often domestic investigations are performed to validate or invalidate suspicions and do not require legal presentation or testimony. When concluded those case files are encrypted and sealed forever, or destroyed if preferred by the client. In other instances, clients may use the results as a tool to save their relationships or as pressure to negotiate a better outcome in a divorce situation. In cases where the information is to be used as evidence, INTERPROBE agents will be available to testify and present the findings in court.

I have never hired a private investigator, how do I start?2021-12-30T15:59:21-05:00

First you need to be sure you retain the services of a reputable, honest licensed detective agency. Make sure they are well established with a track record. Check to be sure they are fully licensed and insured. Do they answer the phone with a live person or do you get lost in voicemail box? Check with the Better Business Bureau to be sure there are no complaints about the company. Last of all do your own “gut check” about the agency you are talking to. Do they make you feel at ease? Are they using pressure tactics and hard sell techniques?

Once the surveillance plan is in place it is important that you do not do anything to tip off the subject to the investigation. Do not change your habits and do not ask too many questions about their activities. Leave the investigating to us!

  • Any and all information you may have on the other party they are cheating with.

How many agents are used on a domestic surveillance case?2021-12-30T16:14:46-05:00

The number of agents used depends on a number of factors. Basic surveillance on an individual being followed from home or an uncomplicated work situation can be conducted by one agent. More complicated scenarios, such as following someone from a high rise office building, or airport or hotel require an additional agent. Other factors in which we may recommend a second agent includes fast and aggressive drivers and extra alert drivers who always watch the rear view mirror. Of course an additional agent increases the cost of the surveillance. This situation should be discussed and will be considered in determining your budget.

How do you follow someone? (Mobile Surveillance)2021-12-30T16:11:17-05:00

The techniques of tailing someone are acquired skills. When following someone we are constantly weighing two factors against each other. First, we want to stay close enough to make sure we do not lose the subject at a traffic light or in heavy traffic. However, we don’t want to stay so close that we run the risk of being observed by the subject. The art of balancing these two factors in a variety of situations can only be executed by having an experienced investigator working the case. In some cases, a second agent is preferable or required which allows   us to keep safer distances while not minimizing the chance of losing the subject.

How will you contact me without tipping off my partner?2021-12-30T16:11:54-05:00

First, we will ask if the phone number you give is secure. Saying it is secure means that only you or someone you trust answers the phone and that we can safely leave a voice mail message if no one answers. If the number is not secure, we will discuss other strategies. When we  contact you the first thing we will say is “is this a good time to talk”. If the subject or someone else is present and you can’t talk; you can say “no” or you can say “you have the wrong number” or anything else. We will hang up and you can call us back when it is safe. E-mail and other forms of electronic media can be used if it is secure.

If we ever perceive that the security of the investigation is threatened, we pull back and with your input reconsider the tactics being deployed.
